Therapy for Depression
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH) data, 9.5% of people suffer from depression or related depressive disorder. Women are twice as likely to suffer from a depressive disorder than men.
I believe that the cultural perception of what a depressed person looks and feels like can be particularly misplaced. Most of my clients are people that get up and live their lives as usual but are harboring an overwhelming feeling of numbness, worthlessness, or even guilt. Many people report wanting to sleep for excessive periods. Other symptoms might include:
Difficulty coping
Little to no motivation
Suicidal Ideation, with or without a plan
Self-harming behaviors
