Therapy for Anxiety
Does this sound familiar?
You are feeling misunderstood or resentful of the people around you
Confused about how to navigate your relationships
Overwhelmed by the pressures placed on you
On edge with your anxiety
You toss and turn at night.
You feel stuck. Disconnected. Exhausted. Unfulfilled.
Some of the ways that I help my clients struggling with anxiety is by identifying negative thought patterns. Sometimes, we get stuck in a negative thought pattern that is unhelpful and causing us more stress.
Many people I work with identify as people-pleasers, codependent, or perfectionists. These traits can mean that you have very high standards for yourself and have a hard time giving yourself any slack. This can lead to increased feelings of shame, self-doubt, and stress.
Anxiety serves a biological purpose by alerting us to possible problems in the world around us. For some people, their nervous system might be predisposed to sense fear and danger, and by proxy, anxiety, in situations where it might not be appropriate.
I like to teach my clients evidence-based coping strategies to help them navigate anxiety-provoking situations in their life. I often employ interventions such as mindfulness, cognitive-based thinking strategies, and compassionate self-acceptance.
